Paloma Picasso, the 1984 fragrance composed by Francis Bocris, is a bold, classic chypre floral. Florals lead, with woods, green, citrus, spice and leather in support.

The opening is bright and aromatic: bergamot, neroli and Amalfi lemon give a citrus sparkle, coriander and angelica a green, herbal spice, and rose and carnation a spicy floral note. The heart is rich, with mimosa, ylang-ylang, jasmine and hyacinth forming a lush, powdery bouquet, grounded by an earthy patchouli. The base is deep and animalic, with oakmoss for a mossy, dark richness, civet and castoreum for a leathery, sensual warmth, and amber, vetiver, sandalwood and musk for a lasting finish.

Performance is exceptional: many wearers say it lasts far beyond a day, and the sillage is mostly strong. It is voted for winter and autumn and favours evening wear. Marketed for women, it suits anyone who appreciates powerful, retro chypres with a leathery depth.
