The opening is unusual, setting salt and caramel against Sichuan pepper and black pepper, so the result is a salted-caramel sweetness with a tingling, numbing heat on top. The heart is cinnamon and patchouli, warm baking spice over damp earth. The base is oak, amber and vetiver, a dry, slightly smoky wood with a warm ambery glow and an earthy, rooty finish that keeps the sweetness in check.
