Legend by Montblanc, created in 2011 by Olivier Pescheux and Céline Perdriel, is a fragrance for men that most people call gourmand; half also find it floral and citrusy, and a quarter notice green, woody and aromatic sides.

It opens with pineapple, bergamot and lemon verbena, sweet and tangy with a sharp citrus lift, and lavender for a clean, barbershop freshness. The heart is fruity and slightly powdery: red apple and dried fruits add a soft sweetness, geranium and rose a faint floral, coumarin a warm hay-like note, and oakmoss a dry, mossy depth. The base of sandalwood and tonka bean is smooth and sweet, creamy wood with an almond warmth.

Longevity is moderate for two thirds of wearers, weak for a fifth, and sillage is moderate for three quarters, so it stays well mannered. It is voted for spring and summer and more for daytime, which fits an easy, fresh-sweet scent for work and casual wear.
