The opening stacks several vanillas, Bourbon, Madagascar and Tahitian, with tonka bean and rum, so it begins as dark, sweet and spirited. The heart adds caramel and white flowers, which soften the booze, with patchouli for an earthy edge. The base returns to rum alongside black vanilla husk, drier and smokier than the opening vanillas, with oud and Indonesian patchouli leaf giving it a dark, slightly resinous depth that keeps it from being purely sweet.
