The structure could not be simpler. It opens with cypress, green and resinous, like crushed conifer needles. The heart is vetiver, and here it is the inky, smoky, slightly damp kind rather than the fresh grassy sort, which is where the name, black ink, comes from. The base is cashmere wood and musk, which soften the vetiver into something smooth and skin-like without ever making it sweet.
Wearers mostly report moderate longevity, with about a third finding it long-lasting, and the trail is moderate. It is voted for autumn and winter and more for evenings. This suits someone who likes austere, earthy scents with no sweetness at all, a quiet, serious wood for dark coats and rainy nights.
