Private Label, released by Jovoy Paris in 2011 and composed by Cécile Zarokian, is a dark, smoky woody fragrance. Woods dominate, with resinous and leathery touches.
The opening is papyrus, which gives a dry, smoky and slightly papery woodiness. The heart is patchouli and vetiver, an earthy, dark and slightly smoky pairing with plenty of depth. The base is labdanum, sandalwood and birch: labdanum adds a sticky, warm resin, sandalwood a creamy smoothness and birch a tar-like, leathery smokiness reminiscent of a fireplace.
Performance is exceptional by most reports: many wearers say it lasts far beyond a day, and the sillage is strong or enormous. It is voted for winter and autumn and leans towards evening wear. It suits cold-weather evenings and anyone who loves smoky, earthy woods with a leathery edge, best applied with a light hand. It is worn by anyone.
