Grapefruit and bergamot give the opening a short, sharp brightness. The heart quickly turns dry and smoky: black pepper and other spices, vetiver's earthy rootiness, a leather note and a core of woods. The base deepens that with patchouli, a dark ebony wood accord, incense for a resinous, church-like smokiness, and tonka bean to add a little warmth and sweetness at the very end.
