Jicky is an aromatic citrus with a warm, vanilla-and-leather base, created by Aimé Guerlain for Guerlain in 1889. Aromatic and citrusy are the two words everyone uses for it, most also find it sweet, woody and floral, and about a third notice its leathery side.

Bergamot and lemon open with a bright, clean citrus, and rosemary gives them a sharp herbal edge. The heart is where its character forms: lavender brings a cool, clean, aromatic freshness and orris root a soft, powdery elegance. Tonka bean already begins the sweetness here, and the base carries it through with vanilla, benzoin and amber, warm and resinous, set against sandalwood and a distinctly animalic leather that stops it from ever being merely pretty.

Most wearers report moderate longevity and moderate sillage. It is voted mainly for daytime, in spring and autumn, and in practice suits anyone drawn to a classic, lavender-and-vanilla style with a slightly untamed finish.

Jicky — unisex fragrance by Guerlain (released 1889). Top notes: Rosemary, Bergamot, Lemon, Mandarin Orange. Heart notes: Lavender, Tonka Bean, Orris Root, Basil, Jasmine, Ethylvanillin. Base notes: Vanilla, Leather, Spices, Benzoin, Sandalwood, Amber, Brazilian Rosewood. — Parfica open fragrance database
