The opening is black pepper and spicy notes with lavender and grapefruit, warm and herbal with a brief citrus brightness. The heart is carnation, clove-like and peppery, with Bulgarian rose and orris root adding a powdery, slightly earthy floral texture. The base is long and warm: Peru and tolu balsam bring a resinous, vanillic sweetness, leather, castoreum and costus give a skin-like, slightly feral warmth, and oakmoss, sandalwood and musk settle it.
