Leather Oud

Leather Oud from Floris, the London house, is a woody fragrance released in 2014 and worn by anyone. Everyone who describes it calls it woody, about half add floral, and a minority find it amber, leather or citrus, which suggests the oud and leather are smoother and more restrained than the name might imply.

The notes come as a single list. Bergamot gives a brief, bright opening before the scent turns to its heart of geranium and carnation, two flowers with a rosy, peppery, slightly clove-like character that sit well against oud. Agarwood brings a dry, resinous wood note, patchouli adds earth, and vetiver a smoky, rooty dryness. Leather and amber round off the base with soft warmth rather than harsh animal depth.

Wear reports are still scarce. By composition it belongs to cooler weather and evenings, and to someone who wants a leather and oud scent in a polished, traditional British style rather than a heavy Middle Eastern one.
