Ambra e Neroli from the Italian brand Essentia Puglia is a woody floral worn by anyone, named for the two materials that frame it. Everyone who has described it finds it woody and floral in equal measure, and about half also call it musky or ambery.
Neroli opens the scent: the blossom of the bitter orange tree, fresh, lightly honeyed and a little soapy, with a green edge that keeps it bright. Jasmine joins it in the heart with a fuller, warmer white-floral richness, so the two flowers together feel sunlit rather than heavy. The base is where the amber of the name comes in. Ambergris brings a salty, warm, slightly mineral glow, sandalwood a smooth, milky wood, cedar a drier, cleaner woodiness, and musk a soft, skin-like finish that carries the whole thing quietly.
Fresh blossom over warm woods is a flexible combination, light enough for a spring or summer day and warm enough to stay pleasant into the evening.
