L’Ombre Dans L’Eau Eau de Parfum is Diptyque's 2012 eau de parfum version of its blackcurrant and rose scent, composed by Serge Kalouguine and worn by anyone. People describe it as green and floral in equal measure, and there is little else to it: it is a focused, two-sided composition rather than a layered one.

The notes are given as a single set rather than a pyramid. Black currant leaf is the green side, sharp, tangy and a little bitter, like crushed leaves in a garden, and petitgrain adds a woody, citrus-stem freshness. Black currant blossom and rose make up the floral side, a dewy, slightly fruity rose rather than a powdery or jammy one. Together they smell like a rose bush after rain.

Wearers are split between calling it moderate and long lasting, and most find the sillage moderate. Spring and summer collect the most votes, almost always for daytime, so it suits gardens, warm days and anyone who likes a rose that stays green rather than sweet.
