Itaca is a woody fragrance from Botanicae in Spain with an unusually fresh, salty side: everyone who describes it says woody, about two-thirds say fresh and floral, and a third find it green or resinous. It is worn by anyone.
The freshness comes from sea salt, which gives a mineral, skin-after-swimming quality rather than citrus brightness, and from davana, a herb with a fruity, slightly boozy character. Turkish rose is the floral heart, deep and jammy rather than delicate. Beneath it, oud and patchouli provide dark, earthy wood, oakmoss a dry, forest-floor bitterness, and labdanum a warm resinous glue holding it all together.
Longevity and sillage have not yet been reported. The salt and moss suggest it can work outdoors in milder weather, while the oud and resin give it enough depth for the evening and for cooler months.
