Tabac Rose by BDK Parfums, released in 2020 and composed by Julien Rasquinet, is a spiced, sweet rose over tobacco. Everyone describes it as spicy and gourmand, and about half add woody, floral, aromatic or citrus.
The opening is plum and Italian lemon with pink pepper, dark fruit sharpened by citrus and a little sparkle. The heart is the centrepiece: Turkish rose, rich and jammy, with cinnamon for warm spice and chocolate for a dry, bitter sweetness that keeps it from being a confection. The base is tobacco, slightly sweet and hay-like, with Spanish labdanum adding resinous amber warmth and Indonesian patchouli leaf an earthy, grounding depth.
It is worn by anyone. Most wearers report it as long lasting, and sillage is strong for about half, moderate for the rest, so it projects without shouting.
