Christian Lacroix Rouge, created for Avon in 2007 by Laurent Le Guernec and Carlos Benaïm, is a rich, fruity floral with a warm, woody base. Flowers lead, about half of people notice woods, and a minority mention spice, sweetness, freshness and citrus.

Red peony, orange and white pepper open with a bright, juicy and lightly spiced floral sparkle. The heart brings tulip, water lily, lotus, Japanese plum, osmanthus and carnation, a soft, watery bouquet deepened by plum's dark fruitiness and carnation's clove-like warmth. The base is cashmere wood, patchouli and musk, a velvety, earthy and smooth finish.

About half of wearers find it long lasting, and the trail is strong or moderate in equal measure. It is voted for winter and autumn and mostly for evening. That suits dinners, parties and cold-weather nights out, for anyone who wants a confident, plummy floral for the colder months.
