44 Gerrard Street from the London house Atkinsons, released in 2020 and worn by anyone, is a floral scent with a cool, spicy opening. Everyone who describes it calls it floral, and a third add spicy, woody, fresh, amber or citrus, so the flowers lead and the rest colours them in.
It opens with eucalyptus, lime and ginger: eucalyptus for a cool, camphorous, almost medicinal freshness, lime for a sharp green citrus, and ginger for a warm, zesty spice. The heart turns to rose, jasmine and orchid, a rich, slightly heady trio in which rose brings body, jasmine sweetness, and orchid a smooth, faintly vanilla-like softness. The base of woody notes and amber is dry and warm, settling the flowers without sweetening them too much.
Reports on how it wears are still few. By its character it suits spring and summer and both daytime and evening, for someone who likes an unusual floral with a bracing, herbal start.
