Idillio from the Italian house Acca Kappa, released in 2016, is a warm, sweet woody fragrance. Everyone who describes it says woody; about two thirds add gourmand and ambery, and a third find it musky, floral or leathery.
The notes are given as one list. Chamomile and sage open with a soft, herbal, slightly honeyed calm, and rose adds a light floral note in the middle. The base is where the character lies: vanilla and tonka bean give a creamy, almond-tinged sweetness, amber and amberwood a warm, resinous glow, cedar and sandalwood a dry and creamy wood in turn, patchouli an earthy depth, leather a supple, smoky edge, and musk a soft, close finish.
It is worn by anyone. Community data on longevity and sillage is not yet available. The cosy, vanilla-and-wood profile suits autumn and winter, evenings and quiet settings, and it will appeal to someone who likes comforting, slightly sweet scents with enough leather and herb to avoid feeling like dessert.
