Ivory Route is a 2012 fragrance from the Italian house Xerjoff. Spice and woods lead equally, with herbal aromatics at about half that strength.
The notes are few and focused. Allspice and spicy notes bring a warm, clove-and-pepper character that defines the scent from the start. Basil adds an unusual green, slightly aniseed-like herbal freshness that lifts the spice. Underneath, patchouli gives an earthy, slightly dark richness, and sandalwood a creamy, smooth woodiness that softens the overall effect and lets it settle close to the skin.
Most wearers report it as long lasting, and the sillage is split between moderate and strong. It is voted equally for winter and autumn and leans towards evening wear. It suits cold-weather evenings, dinners and smart occasions, and it is worn by anyone who likes a dry, spicy woods scent with a herbal twist rather than a sweet one.
