Quercia

Quercia, released by Santa Maria Novella in 2024 and worn by anyone, is a dry woody scent built around oak. Woody is how everyone describes it, and about half also call it aromatic, which matches a formula of only four notes with nothing sweet or fruity in it.

Lavender provides the opening, clean, herbal and slightly camphorous, the kind of aromatic freshness that feels old-fashioned in a good way. Oak is the heart and the point of the scent, a dry, slightly tannic wood with a faint suggestion of barrels and bark, less creamy than sandalwood and less sharp than cedar. Vetiver deepens it with a smoky, rooty, earthy character, and patchouli adds a darker, damp-soil note so that the drydown feels like a forest floor rather than a timber yard.
