Oud Cambodi

Oud Cambodi by Louis Cardin, released in 2019, is a resinous woody scent for men with a soft floral-citrus middle. Woody is the word everyone uses; about half also find it musky, floral, resinous and citrusy.

Labdanum opens it alone, a sticky, sweet, slightly animalic resin with a leathery warmth that sets the tone from the first minute. The heart lightens things with general citruses for a bright, zesty lift and floral notes for a soft, unspecified bloom that keeps the middle from being too dense. The base is classic and smooth: cedar for a dry, pencil-shaving wood, sandalwood for a creamy softness and musk for a skin-like finish that carries the resin through the dry-down.

It wears as a warm, traditional masculine scent that suits autumn and winter and the evening, with the citrus heart giving it some daytime range. It suits someone who likes labdanum and sandalwood together and wants a resinous wood that is smooth rather than smoky.
