Curve, launched by Liz Claiborne in 1996, is a bright fruity floral. Flowers dominate, a little under half of people also notice citrus, and a sweet, fruity side comes through for about a third, with soft woods, musk and amber further back.
The opening is a basket of fruit: peach and apricot bring soft, velvety sweetness, while grapefruit adds a zesty sparkle. The heart moves into a fresh bouquet of peony and freesia, with cyclamen giving a watery, airy quality that was much loved in the nineties. In the base, sandalwood and a touch of iris give a smooth, softly powdery finish.
Light and cheerful, it suits daytime wear in spring and summer: the office, shopping or weekends. It suits someone who likes clean, sunny fruity florals, or who remembers the airy feminine scents of the late nineties with fondness.
