Niche Emarati Khalid by Lattafa Perfumes, released in 2023, is a dark, smoky woody scent. Everyone who describes it calls it woody, about two-thirds also find it resinous and leathery, and a third add spice or amber.
The notes are listed without stages, and there is nothing light among them. Saffron gives a dry, slightly medicinal spice at the start. Leather, birch and cade oil form a smoky, tarry core, the birch and cade bringing the smell of a campfire or a tanner's workshop. Oud adds a deep, resinous woodiness, patchouli an earthy darkness, and labdanum, benzoin and tolu balsam a warm, sweet, balsamic base that softens the smoke.
Khalid is a shared fragrance, worn by anyone with a taste for strong scents. Smoke, leather and resin of this kind belong to cold weather and evenings, and this suits someone who enjoys bold, dark fragrances rather than fresh or floral ones. It is sold in an 80 ml bottle.
