Splendor by Elizabeth Arden, composed by James Krivda in 1998, is a women's floral in the full-bouquet style. Nearly everyone describes it as floral, a good share find it woody, and gourmand, green, musky and citrus touches are noticed by a few.

The opening is fresh and fruity, with apple and pineapple adding juice, bergamot a citrus sparkle, and hyacinth, sweet pea and freesia a dewy, green floral brightness. The heart is dense with flowers: tea rose and rose at the centre, magnolia and lily of the valley for freshness, and jasmine and orchid for a creamier, headier depth. The base is where the woody side lives, with Brazilian rosewood, cedar and sandalwood giving a smooth, slightly sweet wood, rounded off by musk and amber.

Half of wearers report moderate longevity and about a quarter find it long lasting; sillage is moderate for most. It is voted mainly for spring, then summer, and worn by three quarters of people in the daytime, which suits garden weather and daytime occasions rather than winter nights.
