Jupiter

Jupiter, composed by Sofia Bardelli for the British house Electimuss in 2020, is a woody fragrance according to everyone who rates it, with about two in five also calling it sweet, musky and ambered. A minority find it spicy or resinous.

Saffron gives the opening a leathery, faintly metallic warmth, and davana adds a fruity, slightly boozy, apricot-like note that is unusual beside oud. Agarwood, cedar and sandalwood form the woody core, the oud resinous, the cedar dry, the sandalwood creamy. Incense brings smoke, and patchouli and vetiver add earth and a dry, rooty depth. The base turns soft and sweet: vanilla and tonka bean give a warm, slightly nutty sweetness, labdanum and ambergris a resinous, salty glow, and ambrette and musk a soft, skin-like finish.

Jupiter is a shared fragrance, worn by anyone. Woods, incense and vanilla of this weight suit autumn and winter and evening wear, and it should appeal to people who want an oud that is smooth and gently sweet rather than raw.
