The original Miss Dior from 1947, composed by Paul Vacher and Jean Carles, is a floral chypre in the classic sense: floral above all, with smaller shares of people noting green, woody, fresh, leathery and citrus facets.
It opens green and sharp, with galbanum and clary sage giving a crisp, leafy bitterness, bergamot a citrus lift and aldehydes a soapy sparkle, softened by gardenia. The heart is a dense, old-fashioned bouquet in which carnation brings a clove-like spice, narcissus a hay-like depth, and iris a cool, powdery elegance alongside rose and jasmine. The base is dry and earthy: oakmoss and patchouli give the mossy chypre backbone, while leather, labdanum and vetiver add a smoky, slightly austere finish.
People report long-lasting wear and a moderate trail. It is voted mostly for autumn and spring and mainly for daytime, suiting someone drawn to vintage, structured perfumes for work, smart occasions and cooler days.
