A dense white-floral bouquet from Carner Barcelona, Latin Lover was released in 2017 and composed by Jordi Fernández. Everyone who describes it calls it floral; a minority also pick up woody, musky, resinous and citrus facets, which means the flowers are framed rather than left alone.
The notes are given as a single list rather than a pyramid. Jasmine and jasmine sambac bring the heady, slightly animalic warmth of white flowers at night; ylang-ylang adds a banana-like creaminess, and narcissus and violet lend a green, slightly earthy counterpoint. Lily of the valley and magnolia keep the top of the bouquet fresh. Underneath, patchouli gives a dark earthy depth, benzoin adds a soft resinous sweetness, and white musk ties it together.
Latin Lover is worn by anyone. Its full-bodied floral character suits evenings and cooler months more than a hot summer afternoon, and it reads as a statement scent rather than a quiet one.
