Escape, created for Calvin Klein in 1991 by Claude Dir, is a bright, fruity floral with a creamy, woody base. Flowers come first, a sweet gourmand side is almost as strong, and about half of people also find it woody, with a minority noting spice, greenery and freshness.

The opening is a busy, sunny fruit bowl: litchi, apricot, melon and apple bring juicy sweetness, chamomile adds a soft, herbal calm, and a touch of oakmoss gives an early green bitterness. In the heart, rose, peach and jasmine form a soft bouquet, sharpened by cloves and carnation, which add a gentle, peppery spice. The base settles into sandalwood, vanilla and musk, a smooth, slightly creamy warmth that lingers close.

People are split between long-lasting and moderate wear, and nearly half find the trail strong. It is chosen mainly for spring and summer, mostly by day. That suits daytime outings, weekend trips and anyone who enjoys a radiant, fruity floral in the style of the early 1990s.
