Shomal by the Spanish house Botanicae (2019) is a green fragrance according to everyone who rates it, with about two thirds also calling it floral. A third find it spicy, sweet, woody or citrusy. Tea and hyacinth give it its particular freshness.
Green tea and tea provide a dry, leafy, slightly tannic greenness that runs through the whole scent. Hyacinth adds a sharp, dewy, almost watery floral note, and jasmine gives the heart a little more body. Mandarin orange brightens the opening with a soft citrus sweetness, and saffron brings a leathery, lightly spiced warmth that is unexpected in such a green composition. The base of oakmoss, patchouli and vanilla is earthy and mossy, with vanilla adding just enough softness to keep the greens from feeling austere.
Shomal is a shared fragrance, worn by anyone. Tea, hyacinth and moss are at home in spring and in daytime, and it should suit people who like green scents with a floral heart and a gentle, earthy finish rather than a sweet one.
