King Soleil by Bharara is a bright citrus with a sweet, nutty finish, worn by anyone. Citrus is what everyone picks up first; about half also describe it as gourmand and a minority as woody.

Sicilian orange, Sicilian lemon and Calabrian bergamot carry the opening, a sunny, juicy, slightly bitter citrus that smells of peel rather than sweets. Hazelnut is the twist: it adds a toasted, creamy nuttiness that gives the citrus a warm, almost pastry-like turn as it settles. Vanilla and Madagascar vanilla then take over, smooth and sweet, and sandalwood underneath gives a soft, milky woodiness so the scent finishes rounded rather than sharp.

The shape is simple: fresh citrus at the start, warm vanilla and nut at the end, with the two overlapping for a while in the middle. It reads as a scent for warm days that does not want to be purely refreshing, and suits someone who likes citrus but prefers a soft, sweet dry-down to a crisp, cologne-style finish.
