Scilly Neroli by the London house Atkinsons, released in 2016, is a fresh floral built around orange blossom and the sea. Everyone who describes it calls it floral, about two-thirds also find it fresh, and a third green, woody, ambery or citrusy.
The notes are listed together. Lemon and petitgrain open sharp and green, the petitgrain adding the bitter, twiggy side of the orange tree. Neroli and neroli essence are the heart, bright, slightly bitter and honeyed at once, with orange blossom adding a sweeter, fuller floral tone. Sea water and sea notes run through it with a salty, airy coolness. The base is ambergris and patchouli, the first warm and skin-like, the second earthy, giving the fresh flowers something to rest on.
Scilly Neroli is a shared fragrance, worn by anyone. It is a warm-weather, daytime scent suited to holidays and bright afternoons, and to someone who likes neroli with a salty, coastal edge rather than a sweet one. It is sold in a 100 ml bottle.
