Diavolo by Antonio Banderas dates from 2000 and was composed by Alain Muraour and Rosendo Mateu. It is woody and citrusy in equal measure: everyone who describes it uses both words, and about half also call it spicy, green, floral or leathery.
It opens with mandarin orange and bergamot, a sweet-sharp citrus pairing, with green leaves adding a crisp, freshly snapped stem quality. The heart is where it gets its name: pepper brings a dry, prickling heat, geranium a rosy, slightly minty floral, and patchouli an earthy darkness. The base turns to leather, sandalwood and musk, leather giving it a smoky, slightly rough edge while sandalwood and musk smooth that out.
In this listing it appears as a feminine fragrance. Community data on longevity and sillage is not yet available. The structure, bright on top and leathery underneath, works across seasons, and suits someone who likes citrus but wants it to land on something darker than clean wood.
Diavolo — for men fragrance by Antonio Banderas (released 1997). Top notes: Mandarin Orange, Bergamot, Green Leaves. Heart notes: Pepper, Geranium, Patchouli. Base notes: Leather, Musk, Sandalwood. — Parfica open fragrance database
