The opening is all spice: Sichuan pepper and Peruvian pepper give a tingling, slightly citrusy heat, ginger adds a fresh bite, and saffron a warm, leathery edge. The heart turns resinous with myrrh, dark and slightly bitter, and fenugreek, which brings a curious maple-syrup warmth. The base piles on resins: labdanum and benzoin for a sweet, ambery balsam, more myrrh, patchouli for earth, and vetiver for a dry, smoky finish.
Most wearers find it long lasting. Sillage is moderate for most and strong for about a third. Despite the heavy materials, it is voted for spring and summer and strongly for daytime, so it seems to wear lighter than the notes suggest, a spicy resin for warmer days rather than a winter blanket.
