Oud Classic by Ahmed Al Maghribi, released in 2018, is exactly what its name promises: a study in oud and nothing else. Every wearer describes it as woody, and no other facet is mentioned.
The notes are all agarwood, listed by origin: Laotian, Indian, Thai, Cambodian and white oud. Each origin tends to carry a slightly different character, from the sharper, more animalic end to softer, sweeter and more resinous tones, so the blend reads as oud in several registers rather than a single flat note. There is no citrus opening or floral heart; the scent is dark, resinous and woody from the first spray to the drydown.
Community data on longevity, sillage and season has not yet been gathered. It is made for anyone and suits a wearer who already knows they like oud and wants it unadorned, most naturally in cold weather and in the evening. It comes in a 50 ml bottle.
