Oud

Oud by The Spirit of Dubai (2015) is a rich woody floral. Wood and flowers share the lead, sweetness is noticed by about half of those who describe it, and smaller groups find amber, spice and resin.

The pyramid is extensive. The top is bright and spiced: bergamot, lime, pear and pineapple give fresh fruit, while saffron, cardamom and black pepper add warmth, and bitter almond a nutty note. The heart is a deep rose, with red rose and Damask rose joined by jasmine and orchid, and agarwood beginning to show its dry, smoky wood alongside frankincense and myrrh. The base is dense and smooth, with Indian oud, leather, tobacco and oakmoss for darkness, and sandalwood, vanilla, benzoin and ambergris for a creamy, sweet finish.

It is shared and can be worn by anyone. It suits autumn and winter evenings and special occasions, for lovers of opulent rose-oud compositions.
