Reporter for Men is an Italian men's fragrance from 1978, a citrus with spice in the classic style of its decade. Everyone who describes it calls it citrus, a little under half find it spicy, and a smaller group mention woody, musky, floral and amber.
Lemon, grapefruit, bergamot and kumquat open it, bright and slightly bitter, with a lemon-tree note adding the green smell of leaves alongside the fruit. Cardamom and nutmeg warm the heart with a dry, aromatic spice, and jasmine adds a soft floral touch that was common in men's scents of the era. The base is smooth and warm: cedar for a dry wood, tonka bean for a creamy, hay-like sweetness, amber for a resinous glow and musk for a clean finish.
It wears as a fresh, well-groomed daytime scent with more warmth than a modern cologne. Marketed to men, it should appeal to anyone who likes vintage-style citrus with a spiced, slightly sweet drydown.
