Bergamot opens with a brief citrus brightness, but almond and incense arrive almost at once, the almond soft and marzipan-sweet, the incense dry and smoky. The heart pairs rose and iris, the rose jammy, the iris cool and powdery, with opoponax adding a honeyed resin and ethylvanillin a rich vanilla warmth. The base settles in for the long haul: Madagascar vanilla, tonka bean and benzoin for a thick, balsamic sweetness, leather for a smoky, animalic depth, and musk for a soft finish.
