Olibanum Gardenia from the Polish brand Bohoboco (2016) is an amber fragrance with woody and floral sides noticed by most people, and smaller groups finding sweetness, resin and citrus.
Lime and neroli give a bright, slightly bitter, green-citrus opening. Gardenia brings a creamy, rich white flower with a faint mushroom-like earthiness, softened by coconut, which adds a milky, tropical sweetness. The base is smoky and warm: incense and other resins give a cool, church-like smoke, labdanum a deep, honeyed amber, and cedar and sandalwood a dry, creamy woody frame.
It is shared and can be worn by anyone. The contrast between creamy white flowers and incense makes it suitable for evenings, autumn and spring, and more thoughtful occasions. It should appeal to people who like unusual pairings and enjoy florals with a smoky, resinous backbone rather than a sweet one.
