Bergamot, mandarin orange and petitgrain open it, bright, slightly bitter and green, with lavender and basil adding a clean, herbal, barbershop freshness and coriander a dry, aromatic spice. The heart is floral in the old masculine way: neroli and jasmine for a soft, honeyed richness and lily of the valley for a dewy cleanness. The base is cedar and sandalwood for a dry and then creamy wood, vetiver for a smoky, grassy earthiness and patchouli for depth.
It reads as a well-made, traditional scent for daytime and evenings in most weather, suited to someone who likes fougères and chypres from the late eighties and wants a fragrance that smells groomed and confident rather than sweet.
