Golden Oud by Alexandre.J, released in 2012, is a woody scent that anyone can wear. Everyone who has described it calls it woody; a minority also find it green, musky or floral. Despite the name, it is not a dark or animalic oud.
The notes are listed without stages. Solar notes and violet give the opening a warm, slightly powdery brightness. Agarwood, or oud, sits at the centre, here surrounded by sandalwood, white wood and general woody notes, so it reads as smooth and polished rather than raw. Oakmoss and vetiver add a dry, green, faintly bitter earthiness, patchouli deepens it, and musk softens the finish into a close, skin-like warmth.
