Damarose by Xerjoff, released in 2010, is a feminine rose. Flowers lead, wood is noticed by most people, and smaller groups find citrus, sweetness, musk and amber.
Red berries, bergamot and lime give a bright, juicy, slightly tart opening, with freesia adding a fresh, peppery floral lift. The heart is a generous bouquet: Turkish rose and rose are the main voice, rich and velvety, supported by jasmine, ylang-ylang, lily of the valley and iris for creaminess, dewiness and powder. The base is woody and smooth, with Egyptian and palisander rosewood for a soft, slightly floral wood, sandalwood for creaminess, vetiver and patchouli for earthy depth, and vanilla, amber and musk for warmth.
Damarose suits spring and autumn, daytime and evening alike, and occasions where a classic rose feels right. It should appeal to a woman who loves an elegant, full rose framed by soft woods.
