Sugar Leather

Sugar Leather by Une Nuit Nomade, released in 2023 and worn by anyone, is exactly what the name promises: caramel and leather in equal measure. People describe it as spicy, sweet, resinous and leathery all at once, with everyone agreeing on all four.

Caramel brings the sugar, thick and slightly burnt rather than candy-sweet, and cinnamon adds a warm, dry spice that keeps it from cloying. Leather sits right beside it, smooth and a little smoky, so the sweetness takes on a worn-in, almost boozy depth. Labdanum adds a dark, resinous amber warmth that binds the two, and amyris, a soft, balsamic wood, gives the base a creamy, slightly sandalwood-like smoothness.
