Rivea by the Italian house Tiziana Terenzi, composed by Paolo Terenzi and released in 2023, is a woody amber with a salty, marine twist, worn by anyone. Woody is the word everyone uses; about half also call it amber-like, and a minority find it spicy, fresh, floral or citrusy.
Lemon opens it with zest, Bulgarian rose adds a velvety floral note, davana a boozy, fruity sweetness and saffron a dry, leathery spice. The heart is where it becomes distinctive: seaweed for a salty, iodine-like sea air, vetiver and Singapore patchouli for earthy, rooty depth, cypriol for smoke and ambergris for a warm, mineral saltiness. The base is smooth and lasting: Bourbon vanilla for sweetness, Australian sandalwood for creamy wood, cypress for a green resin and ambergris again.
It suits evenings and cooler weather and someone who likes rich ambers but wants a salty, maritime edge rather than pure sweetness.
