Bay essence gives the opening a spicy, slightly herbal warmth, and elemi adds a bright, lemony resin that keeps the start from feeling too heavy. Incense and myrrh form the heart, smoky and balsamic, with the myrrh adding a bitter, earthy sweetness. Agarwood brings a deep, slightly animalic wood, vetiver a dry, rooty smokiness, and amber a warm, enveloping sweetness that holds the drydown together for hours.
