Altamir by the French house Ted Lapidus, released in 2007, is a woody floral for men with a sweet, warm base. Woody is the word everyone uses; about three quarters also call it floral, and a minority find it gourmand, musky, amber-like or citrusy.
Bergamot and neroli open it with bright zest and a bittersweet orange-blossom freshness, while pineapple leaf adds a green, slightly tropical edge. The heart is unusually floral for a masculine scent: orange blossom for a honeyed glow, jasmine for a heady warmth and cyclamen for a cool, watery freshness. The base is rich and long: teak wood for a dense, smooth wood, vetiver for a rooty dryness, patchouli for earth, tonka bean for an almond-vanilla sweetness, amber for a resinous glow and musk for a soft finish.
Nearly half of wearers find it long lasting and most report a moderate sillage, with some calling it strong. It is voted mainly for winter and autumn and slightly more for night than day, which suits a warm, floral wood for cold-weather evenings.
