Eterno is a warm, spicy amber with a green, resinous side, built around incense and fir resins rather than sweetness. Simone Andreoli, the Italian perfumer and house, released it in 2016; it is worn by anyone.
Bergamot, petitgrain and citrus leaves give a bright, slightly bitter green opening, with black pepper adding a sharp, dry heat. The heart moves into the forest: fir and fir resin bring a cool, sappy, slightly sweet balsam, while incense adds smoke and a touch of solemnity. Labdanum and opoponax form a rich, ambery, honeyed base, with leather giving a supple darkness, heliotrope a soft, powdery sweetness, and sandalwood and cypriol a dry, earthy wood to close.
This is an autumn and winter scent, suited to evenings and cold days, and to anyone who likes resinous ambers with a green, outdoors edge rather than a gourmand one.
