Dark Leather

Dark Leather is a green, herbal leather marketed for men from Rayhaan, released in 2023. Green and leather are the two words everyone uses for it, and about half also find it spicy, sweet, floral or ambery, which fits a leather scent with an unusually fresh opening.

Juniper and pink pepper open it, the juniper dry and gin-like, the pepper rosy and lightly spicy, with clary sage and mate adding a bitter, herbal, slightly tea-like greenness that gives the start its character. The heart is leather, smooth, slightly smoky and supple, and it is paired with orris root, whose cool, powdery, faintly earthy softness is a classic companion for leather and gives the middle a suede-like texture. Birch adds a tarry, smoky edge that darkens the leather, and the base is tonka bean and amber, the tonka a soft, almond-and-hay sweetness, the amber a warm, resinous glow that rounds off the finish.

It is a scent for autumn and winter, daytime or evening, for men who like leather with green herbs and powder rather than with spice and oud.
