Grapefruit opens it with a bitter, sparkling freshness, and sage adds a herbal, slightly peppery edge that steers the scent away from anything soft. Damask rose and May rose sit at the centre, clean and almost green, more like a fresh-cut flower than rose jam. Underneath, Spanish labdanum brings a warm, resinous amber and amberwood a dry, slightly mineral woodiness, so the rose ends up resting on something firm and masculine rather than musk or vanilla.
