Bergamot gives the opening a brief, bright lift, and red berries add a tart, jammy fruitiness that keeps the start from being purely sweet. Almond and heliotrope are the heart, and together they produce a marzipan-like, powdery, faintly cherry-tinged sweetness that is the signature of the scent. Iris adds a cool, powdery, slightly earthy softness that stops it from becoming too sugary. The base is vanilla in two forms, including a dark vanilla husk note that is drier and smokier than the usual kind, with tonka bean adding an almond-and-hay warmth and patchouli a light, earthy anchor.
It is a comforting scent for cooler weather and daytime or evening, for anyone who likes almond and vanilla kept soft, powdery and grown-up.
