Black pepper and pepper open it, sharp, dry and a little hot, and they stay present well into the heart. Orris root is the floral element, cool, powdery and slightly earthy, which softens the pepper and gives the scent a faint, suede-like elegance. The base is a stack of woods: cedar for a dry, pencil-like cleanness, sandalwood for a creamy smoothness, guaiac wood for a smoky, slightly tarry sweetness, and patchouli and patchouli leaf for a dark, earthy depth.
It reads as an understated, masculine-leaning woody scent for daytime and cooler weather, suited to someone who likes pepper and iris together and wants a fragrance that is dry and calm rather than sweet or fresh.
