Rose Fatale by the British house Edeniste, composed by Aurélien Guichard and released in 2022, is a fruity, woody rose worn by anyone. Floral is the word everyone uses; about half also call it gourmand and woody, and a minority find it spicy, resinous or citrusy.
Lemon opens it with zest, while pear and litchi add a juicy, slightly watery sweetness and nutmeg a dry, gentle spice. The heart is rose in depth: rose and rose oil for a velvety, slightly honeyed richness, peony for a fresh, dewy lift and geranium for a green, faintly minty sharpness that keeps the flower lively. The base is dark and warm: agarwood (oud) for a rich, animalic wood, patchouli for earth, labdanum for a sticky, resinous amber and vanilla for a soft sweetness.
It wears as a modern rose with real depth, fresh and fruity at first and woody and resinous as it settles, suited to evenings and cooler weather. It suits someone who likes rose with oud and patchouli beneath it rather than kept light.
